Little Play Time

Nikole and I have ten days and its been a wonderful and adventuresome six months. If you are married you may have experienced this already and if you are someday to get married you may get to experiance this!

A wise man (Dad) told Nikole and I in January "focus on what you are doing and not so much on how you are doing it." Good advice to two young and sometimes naive individuals who are beginning a life together. Planning a wedding oten time can blurr what is important and you can lose sight on what it is you, as a couple, embarking on.

And so with ten days left our lives have been crazy hectic. Planning a wedding is a full time job and at times it can test your relationship well before you are even married. For the last two weeks our afternoons and evenings have been spent meeting with caterers, cake bakers, and County Court House Clerks trying not to make a mistake on our marriage license. Its great but Nikole and I definitely needed some play time.

I've been inconsistent on my bikes the past two weeks. I've been able to ride about three to four days a week. My last race was a month ago and I'm chomping at the bit to get on a race course soon.

Nikole on the other hand has not been able to get on her bikes at all this year. The one time we did try we ran into mechanical problems ten minutes into the ride. So on Saturday, the first of the many nice days in a row, we got out in the afternoon to just play. We biked a good twenty miles on some county roads south of E.C. It was a great time of exercise, laughter, and light conversation. If anything, it was a time spent with each other and not with someone who is asking for money for our wedding day!

We have ten days left till our wedding and I'm found a conundrum. Nikole is very concerned that I don't hurt myself biking in the next couple of days. Its a concern that is appropriate seeing that I can be quite reckless on my mountain bike. But...

This Sunday there is an awesome WORS (Wisconsin Off-Road Series) race in Phillips, WI. I WANT TO RACE IT. But my mom and Nikole think it may be a bad idea. Last thing we need are wedding pictures with a groom and a broken leg or a scabbed up face for that matter. Either way...the race is a fun race and besides my dad said he would like to spend fathers day watching is son play in the woods.

What ya think...We'll see what happens. Either way we look forward to seeing all of you soon and we are blessed to have the support from our friends and family. I will keep you posted as to how the race went...or...maybe not!
